Ash Tearne (She/They)
Personal Trainer + Group Coach

About
After moving to the Comox Valley, graduating in 2015, and beginning their first career in Early Childhood Education in 2018, Ash found their way into their first CrossFit gym.
Immediately taking an interest in the more technical side of CrossFit Ash took interest in the world of olympic lifting, training and eventually competing in competitions for both CrossFit and Olympic lifting while living in Nanaimo. As much as Ash enjoyed training and competing, their body did not.Injuries from the past continued to compound on top of an underlying hypermobility condition eventually leading to major health setbacks in 2022.
Though training had to take a back seat, learning did not. Ash dove deep into understanding the why’s and how’s behind their condition. Using this knowledge to their advantage Ash gradually adapted programs and movement to meet their rehabilitation needs, physically, mentally, and even neurologically, slowly and steadily reintegrating back into tasks of daily living, and eventually being able to enjoy olympic lifting again! (But still in moderation.)
As a coach, Ash works consciously within the intersection of neurodiversity, hypermobility, health, and movement, to make fitness a fun, safe, and accessible space for all humans. Their breadth of lived experience as a diverse athlete navigating the fitness space, their ongoing drive for continuing education, and their holistic perspective on health and wellbeing all serve as integral parts of their coaching practice.
