About
Hi, I’m Rob, but most people call me Sugi. I grew up in Toronto, moved to Vancouver in 2007, and settled in Comox in 2019, where I’m now enjoying retired life and making the most of every day...for now.
I spent 33 years in the tech industry, starting in the mailroom and working my way up to become an executive at a large technology company. My career reflects my belief in hard work, persistence, and a willingness to learn and grow.
I’m also a proud father of two amazing kids, ages 29 and 8, who keep life interesting and rewarding in very different ways. Staying active has always been a big part of who I am. I used to be into mountaineering before moving to Comox, and these days you’ll usually find me pushing hard at the gym (often leaving sweat pools behind), hiking, and staying as active as possible all day long, even picking weeks one by one.
Fitness and health are personal passions of mine. I earned my Personal Training certification in Toronto and later completed a Sports Nutrition course in BC, not as a career, but just for my own knowledge and growth.
At my core, I believe in working hard, staying active, continuing to learn, and living life with energy and purpose.
Fun Facts
+ He used to model and do commercial shoots to help put his oldest daughter through university debt free.
+ He once played Reese Witherspoon’s date in a movie. Don’t bother looking for it.
+ He was a junior champion 5-pin bowler at 11 years old, represented Ontario, and bowled a perfect game. His theory is that this may explain why he never had a girlfriend through school.
+ He has saved himself twice with an ice axe after being, in his words, “dumb.”
