Sharon Van Heyningen (She/Her)
Personal Trainer + Group Coach

About
Sharon moved to the island in 2001 and after completing her business degree she took a job in finance. However, after years of sitting at a desk she decided it was time to become more active and combat some old injuries. She began Crossfit in her 50's and at age 55 qualified for the CrossFit Canwest games in her age category.
As she began coaching functional fitness and Crossfit, she quickly identified the challenges of learning this type of movement for the older adult and appreciated the incredible utility of this style of exercise for increasing mobility and strength at any level of fitness. Her passion is helping older adults and seniors by adapting functional fitness workouts to suit their needs and goals.
Beyond her coaching classes and the Be Legendary program at W+U, she is part of a local coaching team that runs Parkinson's Wellness exercise classes in Comox. She is also a member of the Comox Valley Kettlebell Club and loves biking (road and mountain) and chasing her granddaughter around the waterpark.
